The thought of creating noise when someone comes, might not appeal to everyone, however, it's still better than apologizing for dogs' behavior. Moreover, it need not continue, for the dog will learn to obey your commands and stop that the moment you say "No!"
The same method can be applied on the outside, when the dog tends to ignore you. The combination of sound and falling objects (such as bottles of stone), plus your grim and powerful command obedience and speed up the dog was conditioned to follow you or someone face the unsatisfactory situation.
