Train Great Pyrenees guard dog chicken?

I have a dog pupie GP, aged 8 months. I tried to train him to keep my chicken, but it can not be trusted yet. He is injured unintentionally Chicken Chase and if not monitored. He killed one. I heard when a GP is matured in about 2 years, his instinct will tell him not to hunt and kill animals in its territory. Since he had already killed a chicken, should I be patient and keep up to date or should I repatriate him. I need advice from a pro. Blocker Dogs on the subject. Thank you

You need to join one of the Yahoo groups pyr good to discuss in more detail. You not need to talk to a professional trainer, you need to talk to pyr owners whose dogs guard the chickens. Repatriate him ONLY if you are ready to give up easily and not get another pyr. If you want to train, you must be willing to commit at the time. Join our yahoo group and ask this question of Chelle and Randy. Chelle had a unique way to train one of his dogs not to continue farming (not just chickens). Randy had a very unique way to train one of his dogs to NOT kill chickens. AND ... we have links to websites to help train dogs and at least one specifically on how to train a dog to keep chickens in our links section. My two most recent Pyrs 8mo old puppies at this time current. One of the most important things you need to do is to read more about how to be alpha pack leader and learn more about the behavior the dog. There are links to information about the group as well. I'm working on training my puppy male right now does not go far from home. We are rural and took an interest in leaving the property and down the street to the other end of the property of a neighbor. It is also Finally some hard my authority, if we help him learn that regardless of what he wants, MY wants to supplant his custody unless ME! My dogs keeps all our cats and sleep side by side with them. I have pictures of themselves the Weather Underground. I have no chickens. the watchdogs Chelle family of rabbits too. Rather than try to answer your question in a few paragraphs here, I want you to come and look at a group our message base word for chickens and ask Chelle and Randy recommendations. And ask Dan ... He is a farmer and may have information for you as well. I hope you will join us. One thing to do is to have chickens in an enclosure and the dog in a pen adjacent if the dog is acclimated chickens. When you exercise, you must be there with the dog when he is in direct contact with chickens until it is worthy of confidence. Hope to see you soon in the group. -> -
