Maximize the Use of Your Invisible Pet Fence

So you have decided to install an invisible pet fence for your dog. At this point, you'll notice that your dog won't go out of your yard anymore, right? However there are still a lot of things that your invisible pet fence can do. Follow the suggestions below to make your purchase of the invisible pet fence more worth it:

1. Use the boundary flags. It will be very cruel if you do not attach the boundary flags that came with the package. They serve a very important purpose, which is to visually warn your pet that they are close to a boundary zone. This way, they'll think twice about moving forward and not to sprint blindly and then receive the mild static correction.

2. Adjust the static correction. After seeing the reaction of your dog, make adjustments to the receiver according to his size. Again, an invisible pet fence is not supposed to punish the dogs. The static correction is simply to serve as a consequence if they ignore the warnings. Ensure that they will still remain comfortable after they have felt the static. Also note that the receivers will work with dogs weighing over eight pounds.

3. Place the transmitter properly. Though the transmitter is powerful enough, it would be best to place it where it can be most efficient when transmitting the signal. This means not putting it beside metallic objects or in the basement. Recommended places would be the attic, especially when near an open window, and the garage. This will ensure that your set boundary will be constant whether it's in your front lawn or in the backyard.

4. Adjust the boundary. The transmitter has two switches to help in making the most of your lot playable for your pet. Boundary switch can be set from low to high, and to make finer adjustments, you have a dial from 1 to 8. During the initial installation, you can test which setting will work best for your property. The goal here is not to trap the dog in a small area where his movements are limited. If that was your plan in the beginning, you should have gotten a pen instead.

5. Train your dog. The setup of the invisible pet fence was meant to help you train your dog, so they will stay in an area without being monitored. This is evidenced by the boundary flags and warning sound placed in the receiver. First, walk together with your dog toward the boundary area until you reach the zone. When the mild correction starts, help them in walking in the play area. This will help them make an association to the boundary and the static correction.

6. Bring it to the outdoors. Most transmitters are portable enough to be brought outdoors. You may need a special adapter for them to work with your car, but you will be able to bring your dog outside and not have to worry about them getting lost or going into other people's things. The transmitter settings can be easily modified to fit the smaller or bigger space that is possible outside.
