What is the best whistle for Obedience Training?
I want to train my dog to a whistle, but have found a problem before I even started! There are tons of whistles on the market and they all claim to be the best and I havent got a clue about whistles!
Some that I have seen in my pet shop are;
Acme 210 / 210.5 / 211.5 (What do's this mean?)
Acdog
Clix
Sprenger Deluxe
Rosewood
Plastic / Nickle Sherpherds whistle
What is the best type of whistle? and why?

Do you have any tips on how to start a dog on a whistle? My dogs an English Springer Spaniel (show type) who is well trained to voice and hand commands.

I would like to be able to use a whistle to recall him from a long distance.
Any whistle is suitable, do not get a silent one as you will need to hear the sound. Check out the link below at The Clever Dog Company (Formerly Alpha dogs). I do not agree with a lot of their training but their fact sheet on whistle training is pretty good and gives a sound basis to teaching your dog to respond.
My dog is trained to a whistle, the response is so good that when chasing rabbits, squirrels etc she will immediately return tome at the sound of my whistle.
