collars and lazer lights in their training. Do you know of any other technique I can use to ensure that these special dogs are kept as safe as possible?
I've trained a few. Like all dogs, emphasize OVER down ... especially in the distance. Use vibration to get them to look, and then work the "down". You do not want the dog to get into the habit of running TO you as soon as you see them. Traffic may be their enemies worsted. Other than the obvious "surprise", deaf dogs are usually very easy to train. Without noise, which cuts about 50% of distractions for a dog.
